Happy New Year

As the year ends, I can’t help thinking about all the things I have to be grateful for.

I’m grateful that my kids are healthy, happily married and enjoying life. What else can any parent ask for? I’m grateful for the grandchildren (7) and the great grandchildren (5). I’m grateful for the fond memories I have from the 55 years I got to spend with my wife, Joyce, who passed away last December. I’m grateful to have had good health for 80 years now. I’m grateful for having clients like you, very grateful! I hope you have plenty to be grateful for this year!

As I’ve gotten older, I am more concerned about the world’s problems. Everywhere you look it seems there is chaos. No more civility anywhere it seems. Disdain for people who don’t look the same, who don’t share the same political beliefs, who don’t worship as we do, seem to be at the root of so many of the world’s problems.

The problems of the world are not going to be solved by any organization or government but maybe each one of us can contribute a little something that might make a difference. When business gets more competitive or harder our only choice is to get better. If we all got a little better at the same time, it might have a small effect.

So, channeling my inner John Lennon, imagine if we each were a little more tolerant, a little more generous, a little more helpful, a little kinder, a little more accepting, a little more compassionate, a little more complimentary, a little less caught up in ourselves. Do you think the world would be a tiny bit better? I don’t see how it can hurt and who knows what would happen?

I hope everyone of you had a joyful holiday, and I wish for a New Year full of hope, peace, good health, and prosperity.
