How to Update Your Tax Rates

Steps for Updating Your Tax Rates Correctly

  1. Mark your current tax rate with an END DATE (last date the tax should be collected).
  2. Click Save & Duplicate to create a NEW tax ID with the updated rate.

How to Tell if Updated Incorrectly & How to Resolve

You will be able to verify if you did not update your tax correctly by running your Sales Tax Report. If updated incorrectly, you will notice your sales all showing as non-taxable.

This is likely because you have not checked Combine Taxes and the report is not showing the tax definition since it had an end date prior to the report's Date Range.

To correct this:
Run your Sales Tax Report again with Combine Taxes checked. If Combine Taxes is checked, the sales will show correctly as Taxable since the report does not break the definitions down any further.
