PC Power Options

Disabling the Power options on all PCs, including the server in your store can greatly reduce network related/disconnects.

enlightenedWe recommend these settings to be altered on all PCs.

  1. First we need to disable the Network Adapter Settings:

    •  Navigate to the Device Manager. This can be done by right clicking on the Windows Start button > Device Manager or searching for “Device Manager”

    •   A window like the above will appear, expand Network Adapters.

NOTE:  You may have multiple which you need to select. You can exclude any which are miniport or Bluetooth.

    •   Right Click on each network adapter and visit the Power Management Tab
Here you need to make sure all options are unchecked.

  2. Next, we need to disable the Power Options for the PC:

    •   Navigate to the Control Panel > select Power Options.

    •   When the Power Options Window is open, select on “Change when the computer sleeps”

    •   It should open a Window below, then click Change Advanced Power Settings

    •   It will open the Advanced Settings window.
Navigate down to where it says Hard Disk > Click to expand the menu so it says HARD DISK.

    •   You may have to click another + to expand "Turn Off Hard Disk After".
Click in the time field and type "NEVER

    •   Then scroll down to Wireless Adapter Settings > and set to Maximum Performance.

    •   Next select USB Settings and set USB Selective Suspend Setting to DISABLED

    •   Lastly, find the option labeled Sleep and click to expand the Sleep options.
  • Change Sleep After to NEVER
  • Change Allow Hybrid Sleep to OFF
  • Change Hibernate After to NEVER
