Did the return complete successfully?

Did the return reflect the sales tax originally collected?

Check your item records using Item > Find to make sure the item is in stock.

Test searching for and selling items at POS using search methods other than item number, as shown in the chart above:

NOTES:

Follow the steps below to verify returned items:

  1. From POS, select an Associate > then use Find Customer to search and select a customer with a known converted sale.

  2. Select the Return/Adjust option. The Return/Adjust window will appear and will either be blank, or it will include a list of available returns/service adjustments associated with that customer record.

NOTE:  We recommend, for the sake of this test, that you verify by Item #.

To do so, click the SKU button > enter your item number in the Old Item # field and click OK to add the item to the sale line:

  3. You will see (RETURNING) noted in the item description box to indicate the return. Note the Cost and Sales Tax in parentheses indicating these amounts are to be returned to the customer.

Select a method of return payment.  In this example, we chose Cash.

  4. You will see the Tender and Amount to be refunded in the box. Click Done to complete the return.

  5. A preview of the customer's receipt will appear. Verify the Amount and returned Sales Tax are correct.

Verify Returned Item Status

After completing the return in POS, the next step is to verify the returned item status is correctly marked as In Stock.

To do so:

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Items > Find.

  2. The Find Items window will appear. Enter the same Item # used in the return into the Old Item # field and click OK.

  3. The returned item will now show a Status of In Stock.
