Edge Error: Credit Card Type ' X ' needs to be setup for QuickBooks.

You may encounter this error message for more than one credit card type, as the solution for this error message is a one time setup for credit cards. This error message occurs because we need to link the credit card processors internal key, such as Amex, MC, Visa, and Discover.

Please follow the steps below for each credit card type:  VISA, MC, AMEX, DISCOVER.

enlightenedThis needs to be separate than the ones you already have setup, i.e. Visa Card, American Express, Mastercard, Discover Card.

Below are steps on how to fix this error message using MC as an example.

First Steps to Resolve Error Message

  1. Starting in Edge, click Administrative > Credit Cards > Setup Card Types.
  2. If you do not already have a credit card type added for just "MC" then you will need to add one.
NOTE:  Again, this needs to be separate from "Mastercard".

  3. Click New Row.
  4. Enter MC into all 3 fields
  5. Uncheck the box in the Enabled column on your MC line (to mark the line inactive).

Next, in QuickBooks:

  1. Click Lists > Vendor & Cust. Profiles > Payment Method List.
  2. Right Click and add NEW.
  3. Choose "Other Credit Card".
  4. Name it MC.

NOTE:  As mentioned, we do recommend following these same steps for other credit card types, making ones labeled VISA, Discover, and AMEX in addition to MC as a proactive measure in preventing this error message from occurring for these other credit card types.
