Category Mapping

Your feedback on the category mapping is required.  If you feel things should be moved around, let us know and we can make adjustments.  If you approve the category mapping, as is, please tell us.

enlightenedWe will not move forward with a final conversion without final approval on category mapping.

Verify any categories that are mapped to category 900 and higher. ****

The CategoriesMap.XLS file shows the original category (department) and where it resides now in The Edge. These are preliminary decisions we made based on our experience and what we found looking at raw data files.

You have a real opportunity to influence this part of the conversion, so please take your time in checking this document.

Notes:

* Column D represents the destination (Edge) category.  This is the category where your merchandise has been assigned in The Edge.

**If Column D is 0, this means the source category is NOT mapped as merchandise.  Any remaining stock is ignored (because it is not considered to be inventory merchandise).  Any sold instances are converted as miscellaneous sales.  If Column D is 0, Column G will contain a text comment to manage how these miscellaneous transactions will be grouped as, e.g., repair, fees, etc.

***Column F represents pricing method (bulk or not bulk) and has a value of 0 or 1.  If 0, items have been converted as individual item pricing (non-bulk).  If 1, items have been converted as UPC/SKU pricing (bulk).

****During category mapping, some legacy categories cannot be mapped to The Edge recommended categories. In these cases, the merchandize was mapped to a category 900 or higher so you can easily identify those that should be re-categorized post-conversion. For example, a category for a single vendor containing many jewelry types may have been categorized according to vendor as opposed to type.
