The General tab contains the basic details of the customer and, if linked, their spouse/partner. It is also used to manage their Contact Methods including addresses, phones, emails, and social media.

- The primary customer is on the left and the spouse/partner is on the right. If you click the Switch to Spouse button, the relationship remains the same but the displayed data changes across all tabs.
- To change the primary customer, Switch to Spouse and then click Supervisor > Set as Primary Customer.
Fields and options on the left side of the General tab include:
Inactive |
Indicates whether the customer has been marked inactive. Customers cannot be deleted, but they can be marked inactive which functionally deletes them from showing up anywhere in the software. |
ID # |
The Edge customer number. Under Spouse/Partner, a drop-down appears that can be used to find an existing customer to link as the spouse.
NOTE: If there is no Spouse/Partner on file and you type in spouse details it will automatically create a customer record for them when you save. |
Gender |
The gender of the customer/spouse. |
Title |
The customer/spouse's title, e.g., Dr. |
First / Middle / Last |
The customer/spouse's first, middle, and last name. |
Suffix |
The customer/spouse's suffix, e.g., Jr. |
License |
The customer/spouse's drivers' license number. |
Company |
The customer's company. |
Birthday |
The customer/spouse's birthday (year not required). |
Camera Icon |
Opens the photo menu where you can attach or acquire a photo. |
Couple |
Defines how to display the customer and their spouse on receipts and mailings. |
Anniv |
The customer/spouse's anniversary date (year not required). |
Company Account |
Indicates whether this is a company / corporate account. |
Date Entered |
The date this customer was added. |
Nickname |
The customer/spouse's preferred nickname. |
Last Merchandise Associate |
The associate that last rung out a merchandise (inventory) sale for this customer. |
Last Transaction Associate |
The associate that last rung out any transaction for this customer. |
Assigned Associate |
The associate manually assigned to this customer on the Other Keys tab. |
Entered By Associate |
The associate that added this customer. |
Fields and options on the right side of the General tab include:
Contact Methods |
Displays all the addresses / phones / emails / social contact methods for the customer and their spouse/partner. The Show option at the top controls whether you see all methods or just those of the selected customer. |

SMS Card |
Texts a virtual store business card to the selected contact method (must be a phone number). See SMS Business Cards for more information on using this feature. |
Opportunities |
Opens a list of Opportunities for the selected customer. If there are open Opportunities, the button will be highlighted green and display the number open. |
Quotes |
Opens a list of Quotes for the selected customer. If there are open Quotes, the button will be highlighted green and display the number open. |
Client Profile |
Displays print-friendly profile of this customer and their spouse/partner along with contact details, notes, and purchase history. |
Customer Profile |
Displays a print-friendly profile of this customer with options to include purchase history, wish list items, spouse/partner information, and images. |
