Error: Tax 'TAX' is not associated with a QuickBooks® tax agency.

This error means you have a Tax ID within the Edge which is not mapped to an agency in QuickBooks.

The 'TAX' in quotation may appear with a different naming convention such as 'CT STATE TAX', to match those saved in your system.

In order to fix this, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Administrative > Sales Tax > Tax Definitions.

    •  Check the box at the bottom for "Show Inactive Items".
    •  Do you have a tax listed here which matches the error? If you do, this means you likely added a new tax rate, but didn't associate it to a tax agency for posting. You can skip to step 4.
    •  If you do not see the tax the error is referencing here, it may be that you are new to posting to QuickBooks and may be posting over converted data, or returning/voiding a sale involving converted data. You will need to continue to the next step to resolve this issue.

  2. Double click to edit your existing tax definition.
    •  Click Save & Duplicate (to make an untitled duplicate of your tax).

  3. This will open a new Sales Tax window.
    •  For the ID - Enter the tax name the error is referencing, without quotes. In this example 'TAX'
    •  Check INACTIVE so it does not charge this extra tax at POS.
    •  Click OK/Save & Close.

  4. Next, go to Administrative > QuickBooks > Setup QuickBooks Integration.
    •  Visit the Taxes tab.
            •  Check the box to "Show Inactive Items" on the bottom.
            •  Click to highlight the tax definition you just created and use the drop-down at the bottom of this screen to select a tax agency to map it to.

You should now be able to successfully post.
