This error often means the program that runs the reports for Edge needs to be reinstalled/repaired, and/or printer settings not being setup correctly in Edge and Windows.
Incorrect printer settings can cause a number of problems such as missing columns on reports, envelopes printing in the wrong orientation and print related error messages. Invalid settings effect both print preview as well as the physical printed document.
To bypass this error message, you will want to follow the steps below.
First Steps to Resolve Error Message
As a first step, we recommend re-installing Crystal Reports which is the software that generates reports in Edge.
Next, follow the steps below to configure printer settings on the computer which encountered the error message. After you complete both steps, please restart the computer and try your task again.
You will want to properly setup printer options in Edge.
To do so:
- Open The Edge and click File > Printer Settings and select Receipt, List, or Report, depending on what you are trying to print.
NOTE: We recommend you check the settings on each of the 3 printer settings (Receipts, List and Report) as the same trouble often applies to all three of the these types.
- Make sure the settings match the below settings:
Choose the correct printer from the drop-down menu.
The fill in each of the following options.
Paper size: Letter or 8 ½ x 11
Paper Source: Automatically select
Resolution: Custom
Duplex: Default
Orientation: Landscape
Important; Set all four margins to 0.25
Printer margins are set independently at each workstation. Take the time to ensure all three printer settings (receipts, list and report) are setup accurately on all Edge workstations.
Next, you will want to set your printer as the Windows default printer.
To do so:
- Navigate to your computer's Control Panel > Devices & Printers.
- Right click on your normal printer and select the option Set as Default Printer.
NOTE: You will know it's set correctly when it displays the green checkmark. When there is not a printer listed with a green checkmark, it means Windows is managing your printers so you need to manually select your printer.
